Eulogy for a cat
Boyo was a humble cat, always gentle, occasionally kind.
He was a prolific hunter; he caught four wild critters in one day, including a garden snake and an Eastern Screech Owl...snagged mid-flight. Some called it talent. Others thought he might have been a serial killer in another life.
He could scale an 8 ft fence or a tree with ease. Gable roofs and cabin lofts were his particular specialty.
He was a hit with the feral ladies; his pumpkin colored coat was always perfectly groomed. And everyone loved him except Henry, a ginger alpha who lived up the road.
Sadly, he never taught his humans to climb trees. He deemed them incapable of catching and torturing wild things - a great disappointment.
And not one of them grasped the inexplicable joy of finding the perfect box
