Sunbonnet Sue

In high school, my mom was cast as the lead in the Elk Ridge High musical "Sunbonnet Sue." She turned down the part when she realized she would have to kiss her brother-in-law, Charlie. Though mom has a lovely voice, that marked the beginning and end of her stage career.💕

Charlie enlisted in the Army in August of 1944, before finishing school. He was killed in Germany, April 1945. His namesake, Charles, was born 4 years later to my aunt and uncle. Charlie's memory lives on.
