Life skills

You never know what kind of skills you will need in life.
In the last 24 hours, I have:

- installed wifi network equipment,
- built a bed (with drawers) for my mother,
- put together a handicap step stool for my house,
- transcribed documents related to a 16th century Spanish fort
- shopped for the ingredients necessary to cook a week's worth of allergy free food
- made a gluten free, dairy free pizza that actually tastes good
- helped mom find a medication that will help relieve the itching caused by the gradual shutdown of her kidneys
- continued to winterize the house I'm living in
- done research on my novel about a 19th century murder trial
- answered at least 4 questions on twitter about library or genealogy related matters
- updated my blog
- prevented a cat fight
- culled out the excess clothes and linens from 2 closets
Why, you may ask, does this matter?
First, when life puts you in unusual circumstances, learn as much as you can. You never know when it will come in handy.
Second, as someone who struggles with physical and mental disabilities, I am often discouraged about the things I cannot do. Clearly, there are things that I can do, despite my limits.
And finally, let me make something clear. I AM SUPPOSED TO BE RETIRED. I have never worked so freaking hard in all of my life.
